Ecology and Landscape – Planning and Research

ELPR Ltd. has more than 10 years experience in our core niche, the identification, analysis, and practical implementation of win-win-perspectives between agricultural land use and landscape quality in their biotic and aesthetic respects.

Half of our projects deal with practical aspects such as landscape planning, project management, biodiversity-monitoring (plants, birds, butterflies, grasshoppers, mammals), participative landscape development, restoration, ecological impact studies and consultancies for NGO’s and communities (see for example the Landscape Development Projects (LEK), or the Development of International Biodiversity and Landscape Standards).

Another half comprises scientific research in the field of landscape ecology, agricultural cultivation effects, vegetation ecology (mainly biodiversity of meadows and pastures), ecology of arthropods at landscape level, and landscape aesthetics. An example is the development of ‚Species Rich Field Margins‘ as a new type of ecological compensation type for Swiss agriculture.

The institute was started 1992 by the environmentalist Andreas Bosshard. Today the staff encompasses five permanent members and is part a large network of other institutes and experts. This allows us to perform also complex projects with a maximum of flexibility and proficiency.
